Elon Reeve Musk is a South African-born American entrepreneur and business magnate. He is the founder, CEO, and chief engineer of SpaceX; early investor, CEO, and product architect of Tesla, Inc.;
and founder of The Boring Company. He was also an executive at PayPal Holdings, Inc.

Musk was born in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1971. He developed an interest in computers and technology at a young age and taught himself computer programming.
He attended the University of Pretoria for a few months before moving to Canada at the age of 17 to attend Queen's University.
He later transferred to the University of Pennsylvania, where he received dual bachelor's degrees in economics and physics.
After college, Musk moved to California to pursue a PhD in energy physics at Stanford University, but dropped out after two days to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions.
In 1995, he co-founded web software company Zip2, which was later sold to Compaq for nearly $300 million. He then founded x.com, an online payment company that later became PayPal, which was sold to eBay for $1.5 billion in 2002.
Musk co-founded SpaceX in 2002 with the goal of reducing space transportation costs and enabling the colonization of Mars. The company has developed several successful launch vehicles, including the Falcon 1, Falcon 9, and Falcon Heavy,
as well as the Dragon spacecraft, which is used to transport cargo and astronauts to the International Space Station. In addition to his work at SpaceX, Musk is also the CEO of Tesla, Inc., a company that designs and manufactures electric vehicles and renewable energy products.
Musk has also founded or co-founded several other companies, including SolarCity, Neuralink, and The Boring Company.
He is known for his ambitious ideas and vision for the future, and has been a major driving force behind the development of electric cars, reusable rockets, and space exploration.
